People swam at the north pier for generations. When the bath closed, the town lost the one place where anyone could get into the sea safely, in any season, for free.
We are a group of neighbors who want it back. We are not a business: the bath and sauna will be run by volunteers, and any money raised goes into the build and its upkeep.
Most of the work is done by volunteers on weekends, with local trades for the parts that need a professional: the steelwork, the stove and the electrics.
A swim should not depend on a membership. Entry to the sea bath will stay free.
Materials chosen for salt water and winter storms, so the bath does not close again.
Decisions are made at open meetings, and anyone who lends a hand has a say.
Volunteer days, materials and ideas are all welcome.
