Many harbor towns in the north have a sauna beside the water. The heat makes a cold swim easier, and the swim makes the heat easier to bear.
It also turns a swim into something people do together. A sauna for eight is small enough to talk in and large enough to welcome someone new.
Ours will be wood-fired and run by volunteers, with a small donation to cover the wood.
